Angie began her love for community activism and social change as a child growing up in rural Alabama. Angie was the third child of a single mother--who raised her to value community involvement by showing her how to help her neighbors in need. Angie grew up poor and understood the importance of having adequate resources available to meet basic needs. In 2000, Angie moved from Ider, Alabama to Mobile, Alabama, which had a stark population difference. Angie realized quickly that without support, people in Mobile would have a difficult time just understanding what their options were for resources, much less having the ability to get access. Angie began her civic volunteerism with various organizations around the Mobile area and ended up at Lifelines Rape Crisis Center in 2010. It was from there, she was led to begin a career in social work--earning her Bachelors of Social Work from the University of South Alabama in 2016, and then her Masters from the University of Alabama in 2020, both with honors. From there she worked in Public Health, assisting with mental health, psychosocial, and economic issues of low income populations. She created a vast knowledge of resources, and built relationships with service agency providers in the Mobile area. Angie continues her work in the healthcare field today, working with chronic care populations in low income areas.
While serving in her role as a social worker, Angie realizes that there are gaps in service to help people navigate resources in the community. In 2022, she began a community action group known as We the Change Mobile. We the Change Mobile is a social service organization that helps citizens navigate the vast, and often confusing, world of resources, as well as advocates for the fair and equitable access to resources for all..
To strengthen our community by reducing barriers to resources, advocating for fair access to resources, and building a more inclusive community....one resource at a time.
We the Change Mobile is a social service organization that connects people and organizations to resources in the community -- to better enrich the lives of citizens. We want to reduce barriers to care--through advocacy, education, and connection.
